To get a tattoo done one has to be prepared both physically and mentally. Once you’ve lived through the painful procedures of getting a tattoo on your body, it is very important for you to take proper care of your new tattoo. If you don’t have a proper knowledge about the tattoo care, then your gorgeous tattoo will become pale and get spoiled with time.

 Don’t worry! Below are some handy tips that will help you to take proper tattoo care. In order to protect the sparkle and magnificence of your tattoo, you must adhere to them.

Once your tattoo is complete, the tattoo artist will provide you with appropriate instructions for tattoo aftercare and you must follow them. Don’t overlook the instructions given by him. If there are other concerns, then you must seek expert’s advice as they can provide you the solution that is the best for you and your tattoo.

Before your leave the tattoo parlour, the artist will wrap your new tattoo with the help of a bandage. The motive behind putting a bandage is for prevention of bacteria from entering the injury, even though it is a tattoo, it is also an injury; it is an open area and the most prone region to develop bacteria and infection. Therefore, it is recommended that the bandage must not be removed for at least two hours.  

 After removing the bandage, the first and foremost thing to be done is washing the tattoo. Tepid water and liquid antibacterial soap must be used to wash the blood and ointment from the tattoo region. Abstain from using a cloth or any rough fabric for washing the region. Make use of your hands to wash the tattoo area. The following tattoo care instructions must be followed word by word to ensure that you’re following the best tattoo care method.    

  • ·        Stroke the tattoo region firmly with a fresh towel or paper napkin to get it totally dry, and then a little ointment should be used. The ointment that has vitamins A & D are the best for application on the tattoo area, but if one is unable to obtain it then Bacitracin or another antibacterial ointment can be utilized.   

  • ·        Abstain from using Neosporin, it heals the cuts and scrapes quite well but it does not work well with tattoos. There are some people who are allergic to Neosporin and its application might lead to small red bumps which will get disappear with time but it will take away the tattoo also. 

  • ·        After using the ointment for 3 to 5 days, ensure that the tattoo area is perfectly clean and later you can also use a mild lotion in place of ointment. The main reason behind doing all this is to keep the skin supple. The lotion that you use must be free of dyes and fragrances. Eucerin Lotion is considered to be a good option for this purpose.

  • ·        You are allowed to shower on with your tattoo and the tattoo can get slightly wet but it should not get completely wet. Do not apply soap on it. Swimming should be completely avoided whether you prefer go to a pool or sea.

  • ·        In a matter of few days, there can be some peeling and scabbing, but there is nothing to worry about. But, if the scabbing increases then perhaps the tattooing is not done properly. To treat the scabs, wet compress can be applied for 5 minutes for at least 2 to 3 times daily to make it softer and then the scabs will come out by themselves.

There might be some uneasiness in the beginning, but there is a need to take care of it properly. Once the tattoo starts healing, you will not face any more issues with it.  Follow the above given tattoo care instructions to have a sparkling tattoo for a life long.
